Yahoo! Announces OpenID Support

After a number of folks noticed code referring to OpenID showing up in Flickr pages (I think this was first noted at Mashable), there's been much speculation about Yahoo! becoming an OpenID provider. One of the basic challenges in creating online communities involves getting beyond the idea that all communities are alike. Communities have cultures, and those cultures evolve essentially out of the behavior of the community inhabitants. In creating :Vocalo, the folks at Chicago Public Radio weren't just trying to create a new website for a radio station. They were trying to create an entirely new experience, which would enable an online community and help CPR reconnect with a geographic community which was underserved.
