Red Hat and Optaros Expand Partnership to Develop Open Source Applications Using JBoss Technology and Red Hat Exchange

Raleigh and Boston – September 4, 2007 – Optaros Inc., an assembler of Next Generation Internet (NGI) solutions, and Red Hat (NYSE: RHT), the world's leading provider of open source solutions, today announced that Optaros has joined the JBoss Preferred Systems Integrator program, expanding the companies’ existing relationship with Red Hat. Optaros was selected as one of the preferred integrators and consultants for enterprises deploying open source initiatives using JBoss technology and applications available on Red Hat Exchange (RHX), Red Hat's online marketplace.

The JBoss Preferred Systems Integrator program is the highest partnership level and is based on worldwide reach and proven open source deployments. Red Hat and Optaros will jointly develop the market global, JBoss-based solutions offering customers an integrated, tested and proven approach for deploying open source solutions at the application level. For example, Swisscom Hospitality Services worked with Optaros to create the Room 2.0TM application using JBoss and Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Room 2.0 is the first Internet service responding to the needs of business travelers at their hotel room through a tailored set of web 2.0-based information and communication services. The solution was implemented in an aggressive time frame leveraging a large range of Internet based services and open source components.

“Optaros quickly and efficiently assembled a complete, customer-centric solution from a large number of separate services and components into a highly reliable, scalable application. Our customers will love the seamless user experience,” said Christian Petit, chief executive officer of SHS. “With the flexibility of the Optaros Assembly Methodology (OptAM) we plan to continually enhance and add more advanced functionality based on the collective intelligence of our customer base.”

Optaros is fully certified to assemble highly scalable, next generation applications that leverage the JBoss Enterprise Platform and RHX partners help organizations capitalize on the benefits of open source. As a Preferred Systems Integrator partner, Optaros provides enterprises with worldwide support, consulting and services for the design, integration and implementation of JBoss Enterprise Platform-based applications.

“We selected Optaros as a JBoss Preferred Systems Integrator because it has assembled some of the world’s most effective Next Generation Internet solutions that leverage open source software,” said Petra Heinrich, director of channels at Red Hat. “As more companies begin adopting open source at the application level, our partnership will help customers quickly capitalize on open source technology, and extend our ability to deliver enterprise-class solutions.”

Optaros assembles the best open source software and Web services to create dynamic applications that provide enterprises with speed, flexibility and differentiation. The Optaros Assembly Methodology (OptAM) is a fast and flexible way to meet business objectives and maximize the benefits of open source software and Web services such as those offered on RHX.

Marc Osofsky, vice president of marketing at Optaros, said, “Our partnership with JBoss and Red Hat further demonstrates that open source technologies are successfully being deployed for end-user applications by organizations of all types and sizes. Optaros is committed to working with these partners to help companies deploy next-generation applications with increased control and flexibility, using shared development costs, support options and components that are tested and proven.”
