BOSTON & ZURICH, Switzerland — September 6, 2005 — Optaros Inc., an open source software consulting and integration firm, today announced its further expansion in the European market. Optaros is opening an office in Zurich to provide financial services and telecommunications companies with strategic consulting and information system development services.
“Leading organizations are already seeing new efficiencies and flexibility from using open source in their business applications,” says Bruno von Rotz, who becomes an Optaros vice president and market lead for Switzerland. “Having a forward-thinking strategic partner with deep expertise in open source technologies is very appealing. This is a new way of approaching systems planning and development, and it will provide benefits for years to come.”
Von Rotz´ first priority is to establish the Optaros value proposition in the market while hiring a team of leading IT professionals. The opening of the Zurich office is a clear commitment of the firm´s European expansion, which began this July with an office in Geneva. Optaros will serve Germany from its Zurich office and France from its Geneva base.
“Switzerland is a very innovative country in the use of information technology, and open source software is playing a significant role in many enterprises already,” says Bob Gett, Optaros chief executive officer and president. “With the expansion of our European leadership team, we have a great opportunity to become the leader in open source consulting in Europe as well as the U.S.”
Philippe Grosjean will lead the delivery operation in Europe and will expand the existing near shore partnerships in Romania. “This is a very innovative offering that offers new efficiencies and cost savings to companies and governments. It also fits quite well with our innovative staffing model and global sourcing strategy,” says Grosjean, who becomes vice president delivery, Europe. “By combining near-shore cost savings with the flexibility and additional cost savings of open source, you win twice. Certainly, this is the wave of the future.”
Grosjean has deep expertise in leading consulting teams and delivering complex solutions to large enterprises. Before joining Optaros, he was head of the enterprise consulting and services group at Novell and Cambridge Technology Partners in Germany and Austria. While at CTP, he also led consulting teams in Switzerland, France and Italy.
Before joining Optaros, von Rotz built a significant Switzerland presence for CTP. He is widely recognized as a thought leader and innovator in the European IT industry. Before CTP, he worked for McKinsey & Company and BTB Informatik AG.
