Optaros Assembles Endeca Developer Network Website
Boston (US), Geneva, Zurich (Switzerland) and Munich (Germany) — September 10, 2007 — Optaros Inc., an assembler of Next Generation Internet (NGI) applications, today announced it assembled the Endeca Developer Network (EDeN) Website for Endeca Technologies, Inc., an enterprise information access software company. The EDeN Website is a key part of Endeca’s developer community strategy to connect thousands of developers and users worldwide with peers who share common objectives, environments and needs. The EDeN promotes understanding and usage of Endeca’s solutions and accelerates application innovation.
Optaros employed its Optaros Assembly Methodology (OptAM) to allow people to come together to create a global online destination aimed at fostering knowledge-sharing and collaboration to build stronger relationships amongst the company’s customers and partners. Optaros integrated open source components such as content management, forums, blogging and other functions, allowing EDeN members to find relevant information easily and without delay.
“The Optaros assembly approach and resulting architecture allow us to continuously strengthen the EDeN community because modules can be quickly added or replaced to accommodate new features,” said Colby Dyess, product manager at Endeca. “By establishing a connection with our customers, partners and team, we are encouraging and seeing prolific discussions and innovation among our community members. Within the first month we more than tripled our membership and our site scales accordingly.”
Optaros integrated the Endeca Information Access Platform (IAP) into the assembly to showcase the rich capabilities of Endeca’s own technology. The system categorizes content, such as by product or primary audience, and allows content access to be tailored to user profiles. Additional components include:
- The Alfresco content management system: Provides community members with access to thousands of technical documents, best practices, code samples, case studies and other material from Endeca. Optaros used Alfresco's JBPM workflow engine to adjust content approval rules to fit the policies of individual departments.
- The Liferay portal server: Integrates with the Alfresco system to create customized portlets that give users and groups personalized views into the site.
- The WordPress blog server: Enables blogging to be positioned as a central site element.
“Companies that harness the power of online communities with their customers, partners, suppliers and employees are achieving a competitive advantage,” said Marc Osofsky, vice president of marketing at Optaros. “The open source solution we assembled for Endeca’s developer community, and integrated with the Endeca IAP, is already delivering results and provides Endeca with a flexible assembly to take a perpetual beta approach which is critical to long-term success.”
