Who should be the sponsor for Enterprise 2.0?

Enterprise 2.0 is a hot topic in the press but also in discussions with CIOs and Executives. Gartner instisted in its recent IT Symposium that it’s unavoidable, driven by demographics and the consumerization of IT. Technology wise it’s not greatly complex. But the key point is who the owner of enterprise 2.0 initiatives should be. Is it really IT? Despite the fact that many Intranets are owned by IT, IT might not be the best sponsor for Enterprise 2.0. We need business sponsors and role models to walk ahead of the crowd. Only companies that will get this, can be successful.
