Overview:
The exciting news is that the world of banking and investing has made some lots of exciting developments over the past few years. Competition is hot in gaining market share in the retail banking space but even more so in long-term investments space. Whether your customers are active traders, long-term investors or even just run a checking account, they all deserve, and most now expect, a cutting edge site that is seamless and full of options should they want it.
Find out where you are today
What do your customers and prospect customers think? If you don’t know, ask them! While incentives help drive traffic to you, your brand and how you look after your customers will make the difference. Here are a couple of simple starting steps: = Do you have site metrics? If so, what are they saying? If not, start there! = What is the market asking for? How does your e-business strategy align? = When was your last customer survey? What did it say? = Who is your competition and what are they doing better?
Build for your Customers
In short, you should build a site that is a more customer/prospect-focused. In addition, the site needs to meet your e-business strategy, improve your online brand and do it better than your competitors. Here are a couple of simple user experience principles to help you achieve your goal: = Make sure it is user-focused. By developing 3-4 basic personas, you will keep your project focus on your customers and it will help stop un-needed content/functionality from creeping in. = Build a clean and inviting experience that allows important content to breath. = Clear out all jargon and/or offer contextual help. = Test it through usability testing. This step is crucial in fine-tuning the experience. While relatively inexpensive, make sure you budget for it ahead. = Be sure to follow ADA (Americans with Disability Act) requirements. While it adds some work, it will be a great investment to your company and community.
Next Steps:
Now your project is live, your team will need to support it and your customers potentially. Depending on what your project, think about online chat support or a designated call center to answer questions. In addition, monitor site traffic for any issue points and make changes as needed. Finally, be open and allow your customers to comment via email, rating or whatever makes sense for company.
