Open Source Solution by Optaros Makes the Grade for AQA
Posted 04 Feb 2009 by Peter Short in Tags: Alfresco, Open SourceThe UK Optaros open source consulting team jointly worked with AQA to determine the technical architecture and implementation roadmap for the Examiner Extranet.
Our lead architect on the project, Maurice McBride summed up the decision to select Alfresco as "ideal" as it fit soundly into the open source technical stack determined which permitted AQA users to easily manage documents leveraging a sophisticated user interface and workflow.
The solution allowed AQA'a internal users to draft, review, edit and publish documents directly to the extranet. It provides AQA examiners and moderators secure access to the documents they require without having them posted. The solution also provides a framework which AQA can leverage in other areas and add functionality as required.
The open source solution was designed and built in 10 weeks time. It eliminates high postage costs and saved hundreds of thousands of pounds in licensing fees from proprietary software. We have a satisfied client that recognized Optaros for our delivery expertise.
